XpertHR and Dovetail Software Go Together Like Biscuits and Gravy

You know when two things just go together? Peanut butter and Jelly, Strawberries and Champagne, Romeo and Juliet? That’s the best way to describe our recent partnership with XpertHR … we just go together. Since announcing our partnership, I’ve had the opportunity to catch up with XpertHR General Manager Mike Porch and ask him a few questions to help you get to know the company, its products, what it can do for you and why we’re such a natural fit.

What makes Dovetail a natural fit for a partnership with you?

XpertHR.com offers practical guidance to our human resource clients – with step-by-step “How To’s”, Supervisor Briefings, customizable Policies and Documents, Quick Reference Guides, Best-Practice Manuals and more. We know that HR managers are extremely busy professionals, and often don’t have time for extensive research to stay on top of constantly changing statutes and regulations. Dovetail’s HR help desk application enables HR professionals to document their answers and share them with others on their team through knowledge management and also makes common answers available to employees through employee self service. Dovetail and XpertHR are both designed help HR organizations work more efficiently and provide the best service possible while at the same time reducing legal exposure.

What’s your newest “shiny object” – the latest cool feature or service you’ve added?

XpertHR.com is constantly being enhanced, both in content and functionality.  We recently launched our cool new Topic Alert tool – this lets HR managers select key HR topics that are of particular interest and receive email alerts whenever there is a significant change to any laws affecting that issue. Two of our most popular topic alerts, for example, are for Employee Classification and Health Care Benefits. As the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”) continues to roll out, HR managers must ensure that their firms are complying with the changing provisions in the law in a timely manner, which we provide in our XpertHR legal timetables. So, our clients have set up alerts to stay on top of that – and they benefit with instant daily alerts as we update our guidance.

As for our content, we’ve recently added a new International Manual for China, at the request of our clients.  Companies based in North America, but with some employees in China (or any of the other 17 countries we cover), need to understand the country-specific  human resource regulations covering recruitment and termination, vacations, health and safety, employee rights and more – to avoid unnecessary risks and issues that can affect their bottom lines.  We have more International Guides that have been requested by our clients and that will be delivered later this year, including Canada, Brazil and more.

We’ve also recently added two workflows to our exclusive Liveflo tool: one on progressive discipline and one on determining if a penalty is owed under the Affordable Care Act. The progressive discipline workflow provides interactive guidance regarding employee misconduct discipline and walks employers through the progressive discipline process, from the time an employer is placed on notice of a rules violation or other misconduct to any final recordkeeping steps. The other workflow helps employers with shared responsibility requirements which go into effect on January 1, 2014. Often called the “pay or play” mandate, these provisions require an employer to offer affordable, minimum level health coverage to full-time employees and their dependents or pay a penalty. The workflow helps employers Determine if a Penalty Is Owed Under the Affordable Care Act.

Why is XpertHR a “must have” for HR pros?

One of the best compliments we hear from our HR clients is that “XpertHR makes me look good.”   Let’s face it, it is hard work to stay on top of all the changing laws from the Federal government, 50 states plus D.C., and hundreds of individual municipalities in the U.S. If you look at social media alone, XpertHR.com has updated our guidance and sample policies on social media more than half a dozen times in the last 12 months alone. But, when our clients are hit with a question from an employee, or an urgent challenge from a senior C-level manager, they know that there is one place they can instantly get an answer and be assured without question that it is up-to-date.  There is only one product that is constantly maintained by over 400 expert lawyers from the top 70 employment law firms in the U.S.  That is XpertHR.com, and that is why we are a must-have for any HR pro.
