Complimentary Webinar: 5 Employee Relations Metrics you Should be Tracking & Why

March 19, 2012 In my last post, I referenced a recent study by the Society of Human Resource Management, which revealed that senior-level HR executives rank the opportunity to do strategic planning as one of the key elements of job satisfaction. For most HR professionals, that means having the metrics necessary to identify and solve business problems.   While HR organizations have caught onto the importance of tracking HR metrics, such as performance, employee engagement and turnover, many fail to measure employee relations (ER) metrics, which can be just as critical to your organization’s strategic plan, with the same precision.   If tracked correctly, ER metrics can help determine the root cause of workforce trends in your organization. In thiswebinar, human capital strategy consultant and 20-year HR veteran Cathy Missildine-Martin will reveal five critical ER metrics you should be tracking and why.   Join us to…

Dovetail Software Releases New White Paper Revealing How to Identify Employee Grievance Hot Spots

February 21, 2012 According to the EEOC, the number of employment-related claims filed in 2011 was 99,947. Retaliation and discrimination claims were filed most frequently and dealing with those claims almost always requires partcipation from the ER department. A recent survey conducted by HRmarketer services group reveals that 72 percent of U.S. employers say they do not produce audit trail reports for their employee complaints, despite the fact that just one sexual harassment case or discrimination lawsuit can cost a company dearly in terms of its bottom line and its reputation. In this white paper, you will learn how organizations can protect their reputation and financial assets by using an HR case management system to carefully track, audit, and deliver analytics on employee complaints and grievances. How HR Analytics Can Help HR Lead Change

November 22, 2011 I just read a very informative article by Human Resources IQ contributor Brad Powers, a consultant and researcher in process innovation, addressing why HR does not often lead change to improve their organization’s processes. At the end of the article, he cites two causes responsible for the difficulty of HR leading change: 1) HR is often viewed by the CEO and executive team as a supporting role instead of a partner, who can offer the organization advice and counsel, 2) HR hires HR experience, who are accustomed to being viewed in a support role and will be less credible and comfortable engaging in operational advice. I agree with both of these causes, but would propose a third cause: a lack of reporting on employee-related issues leaves HR with little evidence to support recommendations for process changes. In a previous blog…

HR Case Management Can Be Daunting!

HR Case Management
September 30, 2011 HR Case Management: What's it all about? As I talk with prospective clients on a daily basis and we at Dovetail collectively educate the HR world about the powerful benefits of properly tracking interactions through HR Case Management with their employees, I often hear the response, “I don’t think we’re sophisticated or mature enough of a HR organization to handle that.” And I get it. Nearly everyone I talk to genuinely understands the importance of tracking these interactions, having a detailed audit trail when needing to see where an on-going issue with an employee may have taken a bad turn or discovering where one’s HR workforce is truly spending its time. They too want to know what’s most important to employees on any given week/month/quarter, have the ability to actually enforce various compliance mandates and Service Level Agreements, as well…
