#HRfit – How “fit” is your HR department?

Wellness

Each season, I like to create content to support our marketing efforts for the year and upcoming conferences. After 30 live broadcast interviews at HR Tech last year, we discovered that everyone was interested in and talking about “wellness” – I started thinking about this and all that entails for a company and its talent…

  • Employee Health: Physical / Mental Wellness
  • Job Satisfaction
  • Job Stress
  • Employee Engagement
  • A Strong HR Department
  • Employment Branding
  • Employee Referrals
  • Supportive Management
  • Quality Leadership

And so much more. We live and work in a time where our resources are stretched thin – job seekers and employees are more aware now than ever of the importance of balance. Wellness – whole wellness – can be directly correlated to our work and how we are treated by our employer, organizationally and individually. And this does not just pertain to an individual’s engagement, but also the perception of what is important to the organization and how that aligns with the needs of the employee or what is important to them.

#HRfit

We decided to really dive in to the full understanding of wellness: how it impacts employees, the employers, and the bottom line. For the employee, the bottom line is job satisfaction, job retention, being valued and appreciated, and a paycheck that covers basic needs. For employers, that bottom line is what makes up organizational success, whether that is revenue / profit, company growth, and quality talent loyalty / retention. Ultimately, both sides want the same thing – we just have different ways of getting there.

Success?

Raising awareness for both employees and employers of what, ultimately, brings personal, departmental, or organization success is our goal. For the next several months, we will be sharing initiatives, thoughts, successes, failures, challenges, technologies, and numerous ideas of what it means to be #HRfit – what does it mean to have your human resources department part of that success, part of a well-run department, part of employee satisfaction, part of the human engagement at a successful company.

I still believe that any organization’s greatest asset is its people, its talent. There is no product or service ever created or provided that is better than the human heart or human mind.

“The idea flow from the human spirit is absolutely unlimited. All you have to do is tap into that well. I don’t like to use the word efficiency. It’s creativity. It’s a belief that every person counts.” –Jack Welch

Thanks for the reminder, Jack.

We look forward to hearing from you – having you share your successes, as well as challenges – for we are all in this together. Let’s get #HRfit together.
