Dovetail’s “Not to be Missed” List for HR Tech 2012

September 10, 2012 The HR Technology Conference & Exposition is fast approaching and we are pumped to be heading to the Windy City this year. With 15 years of dedication to helping organizations benefit from HR technology, it’s no wonder that the HR Technology Conference is one of the two must-attend HR conferences of the year. China Gorman, former COO of SHRM (the other conference) and CEO of CMG Group stated that the HR Technology Conference would be her first choice if she could only attend one. Our’s too!   With three days packed full of so many awesome sessions, activities and social events, it will be impossible to get to everything. You can’t really go wrong with any of it, but there are a few things that, in my opinion, should definitely make it onto your agenda:   Four Seasons Consolidates to one HR &…

The Best Thing About HR Technology

June 5, 2012 I've been fortunate enough in my career to work in several major functions, including Operations, Quality, IT and, of course, HR. You could probably deduce that HR has a special place in my heart, since it is where I decided to stay. But the intersection of HR and IT is, to me, the most amazing area in which to spend your time. Great HR people who are tech savvy working beside brilliant technical minds who understand how to interact with others. It's a truly remarkable field.   The best thing, though, is the impact HR technology can have when it is done right.   One of the toughest things about being in HR is the aching need to help others that so many practitioners face every day. Oh sure, there are some knuckleheads in every organization that you could live…

What Do Successful HR Departments & Technology Vendors Have in Common? A Good Onboarding Program

November 14, 2011 I attended a webinar last Thursday presented by HR Marketer and William Tincup, an expert in HR marketing and technology user adoption. The webinar, You Built It, They Bought It, But Do They Use It?, was designed to help HR technology marketers turn buyers into loyal users and advocates of their solutions. Throughout the presentation, Tincup advises marketers to treat customers the way good HR departments treat employees. At one point, he made the very true statement that many HR tech vendors are relentless when it comes to lead generation and gaining customers, but lose that vigor when it comes to getting their customers to actually use their product. I think the same could be said for many HR departments: They are relentless when it comes to recruiting and signing Talent but do not approach ensuring their new hires are…

HR Case Management Can Be Daunting!

HR Case Management
September 30, 2011 HR Case Management: What's it all about? As I talk with prospective clients on a daily basis and we at Dovetail collectively educate the HR world about the powerful benefits of properly tracking interactions through HR Case Management with their employees, I often hear the response, “I don’t think we’re sophisticated or mature enough of a HR organization to handle that.” And I get it. Nearly everyone I talk to genuinely understands the importance of tracking these interactions, having a detailed audit trail when needing to see where an on-going issue with an employee may have taken a bad turn or discovering where one’s HR workforce is truly spending its time. They too want to know what’s most important to employees on any given week/month/quarter, have the ability to actually enforce various compliance mandates and Service Level Agreements, as well…
