Meet Dovetail’s Newest Team Member Traci Deveau

TraciPicThis summer we welcomed a new member to our sales team and wanted to introduce you to the newest Dovetailian Traci Deveau. Traci is a true New Englander at heart, a devout Boston sports fan, and a current resident of the Sunshine State (Orlando, Florida). She is a former HR Director with hands-on experience developing benchmark-talent management strategies, implementing software, andadministering and maintaining compliance. Traci’s vast background includes all aspects of employee relations, payroll and benefits administration, and change management.

As a former practitioner and software consultant, Traci has an in-depth, knowledge of implementing HR technology. Her process improvement background and practicalunderstanding of the inner workings of the HR function, make her an excellent and unique addition to the Dovetail sales team.  Traci has the keen ability to identify workforce issues/trends and develop strategic, time-proven solutions to address them.

I sat down with Traci to discuss her previous experience, HR Technology and what she’s looking forward to at Dovetail:

1.  Prior to joining Dovetail, tell us about your experience in the HR Technology space?

I have a unique blend of HR and sales experience. My career has taken me from Director of Human Resources at Fairfield Mortgage to Software Consultants at LES (a PeopleSoft partner) and SilkRoad Technology. In both consulting roles, I essentially took my working understanding of HR and put it to work providing companies with best-in-class implementation strategies and solutions. I used process improvement and change management to align their current processes with their new solution/technology. In addition, I spent eight years in a sales role for Bernard HODES Group. I was successful solely because I wanted to find the best solutions for my clients and would do whatever necessary to deliver on my promise. I think it’s the blend of  those experiences that help me in my new sales role at Dovetail because when you truly understand the fundamentals of human resources processes and can help a client conceptualize those needs in the technology space, it becomes more about improving their business than closing a deal, and that’s the WIN-WIN.

2. What excites you about HR and specifically about HR technology?

HR technology fascinates me because it’s constantly changing. I find the innovation inspiring. All the things I was doing as an HR Director were so manual and it blows my mind how much technology has changed everything. The fact that someone can effectively develop a tool or solution that can revolutionize an industry blows my mind no matter how many times I witness it.

Having been an HR professional, I understand the pains and frustrations my clients go through, because I’ve been in their shoes. And fortunately now I’m in a role where I have solutions that can ease those pains, make their jobs easier and increase their productivity.

3. What was appealing to you about joining Dovetail?

The untapped potential and raw opportunity. So many HR professionals don’t know that [HR Case Management] technology like this exists and how much it can impact their daily operations and make their lives easier. It also helps that the Dovetail platform is easy to navigate, implement, and understand – it makes selling more fun.

4. How do you think HR Case Management tools can impact HR professionals and HR service delivery?

Aside from the obvious of reducing risk and tracking compliance, I think our analytics tool can help organizations with workforce management. For example, it can help identify areas that are in need of workforce education and training and of course, streamline the HR and employee relations processes. I also think it will help HR professionals better serve employees by improving timeliness and quality of responses. The way the system can automate processes that were previous manual keeps requests and issues from falling through the cracks, which ultimately leads to an increase in employees’ confidence in HR.

5. What advice would you offer an HR organization looking to purchase new technology about the selection process?

Be smart, do your research, and know that the biggest brands aren’t necessarily the best solution for your organization. More specifically, identify what your organization wants before shopping and find a solution that fits.

6. You have a lot of experience with HR technology implementations. What are some actions organizations should take to ensure successful implementations?

First, have the right team in place to work on the project. Second, allow adequate time to do it correctly. And most importantly, be open and receptive to change management.

7. What’s your favorite thing about working with HR professionals?

I really consider myself an HR person so it feels like I’m working with my colleagues and friends. But don’t tell my boss, he thinks I’m a sales person.

8. What are you most looking forward to this year working with Dovetail?

Watching the market take off. We’re currently evangelizing HR Case Management and Service Delivery software and I think as the market realizes the value of it and truly understands what we do, the growth potential is immeasurable, and I’m really excited to be a part of that. I’m also looking forward to watching our platform grow and evolve.

We are so excited to have Traci on our team and feel certain her infectious personality, knowledge of HR solutions and processes, and genuine desire to improve your world, will win you like it won us.
