5 Reasons to Attend the HR Technology Conference and Expo in 2014

August 18, 2014 Tim Sackett, a self-described typical HR buyer, recently blogged about why he hates buying HR software. He expressed sentiments that I’m sure many HR buyers can relate to, including the reoccurring suspicion that he’s getting an unfair deal. He’s even teaming up with Steve Boese to deliver a webinar on how to avoid getting taken when purchasing technology. If you are a technology buyer, I would highly recommend checking it out.   But as he says in his post, one of the ways to ensure you’re not getting ripped off is to check, and this starts with your network and your knowledge. Two things you can grow at the HR Technology Conference and Expo this year.   This conference is the largest conference focused on HR technology in the world.  Last year, more than 3200 attendees made their way to…

Maternity Leave and HR Help Desk Solutions

August 4, 2014 I know this face hasn’t popped up on our blog in a long time, so you might not recognize me, but I work at Dovetail. I just had my first baby and have been on maternity leave for the last three and a half months. On my first day of maternity leave, one day before the baby arrived, I thought, “there’s no way I’ll really completely check out of work for 3 months.” But that’s exactly what I did. As it turns out, as wonderful as it is to be a first-time parent, it’s as equally completely overwhelming and exhausting. I was too much of a zombie the first two months to even remember I had a job (that wasn’t taking care of my daughter), much less keep up with it. Additionally, I work for an incredibly family-friendly organization, have very…

Donna Nelson Discusses Leveraging HR Case Management for Next Generation HR Service Delivery

November 15, 2013 Last month, we sponsored IPQC’s HR Shared Services and Outsourcing Summit held in Orlando, FL. It’s one of a handful of conferences available that focuses primarily on HR service delivery and HR shared services. This year, HR leaders from Google, Novo Nordisk, Johnson & Johnson, eBay and more got together to share their stories and exchange best practices. Along with fantastic networking, attendees participated in pre-conference workshops and session tracks geared toward helping HR professionals set up or improve their shared services environments.   Donna Nelson, formerly Head of HR Shared Services at Ann Taylor and now a consultant for HR Shared Services strategy and deployment, gave a presentation on leveraging case management data to become a more strategic player in your organization. Her presentation garnered a ton of interest at the Summit, and I thought Donna would certainly be…

XpertHR’s David Weisenfeld Discusses Trends in Pre-employment Screening and Background Checks

November 11, 2013 More than two thirds (69%) of employers run criminal background checks on all of their potential employees according to a 2012 survey by the Society of Human Resource Management. However, employers need to be very careful in how they go about running background checks on job candidates. Failing to follow recent guidelines laid out by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) could land employers in hot water. Being up to date on pre-employment screening and testing regulations is essential, which is why we asked Dovetail partner XpertHR’s Legal Editor David Weisenfeld to share his knowledge on legislative and regulatory key trends and issues you need to be aware when screening prospective employees in 2014. Join us on December 10th for our webinar 2014 Trends in Pre-employment Screening and Background Checks to get the up-to-date information you need to ensure you…

HR Help Desk Solutions at the HR Tech Conference

October 16, 2013 What a year for HR Tech! With over 3900 attendees and 300 exhibitors, this year’s show was the largest in terms of size and attendance. As a booth dweller, it was certainly evident in the exhibit hall. Booth traffic was up from last year, and we spoke with attendees from all over the world with so many different HR roles, experiences and backgrounds. HR technology buying is up with many HR practitioners expressing a desire for cloud-based, totally integrated systems. The good news for us is the demand for HR Case Management systems is also up. As Scott Berg states in his October 2013 Northland Capital Markets Report, “Recent conversations in the HR software space have highlighted more customer interest in HR Case Management software, a nascent market opportunity but a product most enterprise companies will likely leverage over the…
