A Little History
Three years ago, I was goaded into playing street hockey in Atlanta in the middle of summer.
Two years ago, Jonathan Brewer and I put together one of the greatest kickball games HR has ever seen.
Last year, we celebrated The Big Lebowski in a Orlando bowling alley.
All of there were great fun, and were done in the spirit of changing the world. And in the process we’ve raised a significant amount of money for those who need a little help. And many of you have come along for the ride.
This year, we are going in a slightly different direction. At the SHRM Annual Conference next week, we will be hosting a Poetry Slam, and are partnering with Quantum Workplace, Broadbean, Dice and Branded Strategies in our support for …
No Kid Hungry
Would you be surprised to know that there are hungry children in America? Especially right now – the summer months are very hard for children who no longer receive supplemental meals from their schools.
Dovetail Software is responding to this knowledge by, once again, raising awareness and hosting an event at the SHRM 15 National Conference June 28 – July 1 in Las Vegas. Joining us in this effort are our fellow event sponsors Quantum Workplace, Broadbean Technology, and Branded Strategies.
Our #SHRMpoetry campaign launched last week and is gaining attention as more and more in the HR industry become aware of childhood hunger in America; 1 in 5 children do not receive the nutrition they …
As we come out of the Thanksgiving holiday, it is easy to lose ourselves in the commercial gorging known as Christmas. It’s the reason Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday (or at the very least, my favorite in the second half of the year). Christmas is commercial. Thanksgiving is about feeding the people you love. With that in mind, I’m sharing this with all of you in hopes it will catch your eye. Today is Giving Tuesday, a special fundraising day for No Kid Hungry. And this year, the amazing people at Hickory Farms are matching donations TODAY.
No Kid Hungry connects kids in need with nutritious food and teaches their families how to cook healthy, affordable meals. The campaign also engages the public to make ending childhood hunger a …
Another year, another great event.
We are proud to get the chance to do some good for others in connection with SHRM Annual, this time held in Orlando. Once again, we partnered with our friends over at Dice to support No Kid Hungry. This year, in case you hadn’t noticed, we hosted a bowling party fundraiser. As an homage to Jeff Bridges, one of the biggest supporters of No Kid Hungry, We choose The Big Lebowski as our theme. Special thanks to Kings Orlando for hosting us!
This year we raised over $5,000, which translates to 50,000 meals for children in America. That’s a pretty good haul, we think. (But if you’d like …
In what has become a much anticipated part of the SHRM Annual conference, the social team is once again taking time out on Sunday to benefit No Kid Hungry, this time hitting the lanes in tribute to The Big Lebowski and, of course, NKH mega-supporter Jeff Bridges.
This year, more than 16 million children in America will …
As we hit the home stretch of the year, we are inclined to reflect on what we’ve done, what we missed, and what we could improve on. As I look back on 2013, I can’t help but be proud of the work we’ve done in several areas, not limited to that of an HR case management vendor, an HR shared services consultant, or our work evangelizing about HR technology. I also think about the work we’ve done with the HR community and beyond.
We presented several hours of content for our HR practitioner friends, including live presentations at six different state SHRM conferences, HR Tech Europe, IQPC, LERHN and others. We also either hosted, led or appeared on webinars all year, …
By now, you’ve hopefully seen all the posts and tweets about the kickball game at SHRM13. We couldn’t be more proud of what we accomplished. Huge thanks to our sponsors, Dovetail Software and Dice, for helping us make it a reality. Also, of course, thanks to SHRM for bringing us together and supporting our efforts and to No Kid Hungry, the best darned partners a kid could ask for.
And if you somehow still haven’t donated, but would like to, you can find our page right here. It’s never too late to help!
So, ready for the wrap up?
We hope our friends like our small token of appreciation. This would not have happened without them!
Here’s a look at some of …
We are so excited to be a part of this event and help feed the more than 16 million children in America who will face hunger this year. Many of you are playing or have donated to players to help to help hungry kids get the healthy food they need every day.
BUT, there is another way to help support the kickball game and raise money for these kids. On Tuesday, June 11th to spread awareness and raise money, we will be holding a tweet-a-thon. Every time @Dovetail, #SHRMKickball, and a link to the game page is mentioned, Dovetail will donate $1, up to $1000.
